Raze / Rekindle
Raze / Rekindle, the 2019 Odyssey Literary Festival, confronts endings and beginnings, change and resilience, destruction and renewal. We seek to raze old structures and rekindle hope. We consign to the fire words and stereotypes to be destroyed; we ask how climate stories can inspire change and what writers can offer to the next generation.
Mission statement:
Odyssey Literary Festival attracts Victoria’s most dynamic emerging and established writers to generate meaningful events around reading, writing and culture that will inspire and empower our audience.
Who we are:
The Odyssey Literary Festival is a student-led initiative from the RMIT professional writing and editing (PWE) program, establishing PWE firmly within in the Melbourne literary scene. Each year we aim to entertain, challenge and empower our audience to read widely and well, and to build networks across the reading and writing community. Odyssey is committed to championing the voices of emerging and diverse writers, and equipping PWE students with valuable industry skills.
Previous Odyssey Literary Festival guests include Alison Goodman, Tony Birch, Sofie Laguna, Jennifer Down, Carly Findlay, Mark Brandi, Fiona Wood, Rajith Savanadasa and Angela Meyer.
