The Capitol interior

The Capitol

113 Swanston St,

Melbourne 3000

Built in 1924, The Capitol is renowned for its spectacular art deco interior. It is one of the most beautiful theatres in Melbourne. Originally host to silent film screenings and their orchestral accompaniments, The Capitol is now a cultural and creative hub for performance, education and festival events.

After extensive restoration work, The Capitol re-opened its doors in June 2019. We are proud to bring Raze / Rekindle to such an incredible venue.

The Capitol is an accessible venue. If you have queries or require more information about accessibility, please contact

thecapitol@rmit.edu.au before your visit.

The Oxford Scholar Hotel

427 Swanston St

Melbourne 3000

The Oxford Scholar, situated at the northern end of Swanston Street,

dates back to 1857. Originally surrounded by tobacco warehouses

and popular with local workers, The Oxford Scholar went onto to

become a well-known student watering hole in the 1960s – a

tradition that continues today.

Re-opened in April 2019 following refurbishment under the

supervision of RMIT alumnus Rodney Eggleston, it now boasts a

modern take on the traditional English pub, with warm timber,

exposed brick and industrial elements. The Oxford Scholar is now a

sophisticated bar and eatery in the heart of the RMIT city campus.

We are delighted to be launching

Suspiria at this historic venue.
